Here's what's happening in our corner of the world:

I was thrilled to attend the GBU Foundation Community Grant Awards Dinner with several of our board directors on April 3rd in Pittsburgh. Meals on Wheels Erie was awarded a $10,000 grant to support the work we do through our Veterans in Need Meal program. Thanks to the GBU Foundation, we will be able to move 3 veterans from our waitlist to active delivery status. A good time was had by all and we are grateful for the recognition in this national contest! 

Registration for Sponsorships and Foursomes are OPEN for the 7th Annual Take a Swing Against Hunger Golf Scramble! The tournament will take place on Monday, September 8th at the Beechwood Golf Club. Spreading Springtime Cheer! 🌼

Our wonderful partners at the American Cancer Society had extra daffodils from their Daffodil Days fundraiser and generously donated them to Meals on Wheels Erie. Our recipients were delighted to receive a little touch of spring with their meals! A huge thank you to our Friday volunteers for delivering not just nourishment, but also kindness and joy on a chilly spring day. Small acts of kindness make a big difference! 💛🌼🚐

$5,000 GBU Foundation Community Grant

in the Hometown Hero Support Category

On April 3rd, Jennifer and several board members [l-r]: Kristen Karrfalt, Jeanine Tome, Lisa Graff, along with Leslie Cermak, accountant, traveled to Pittsburgh to attend the GBU Foundation Community Grant Award Celebration. It was a fabulous evening of support for many deserving nonprofit organizations from across the country. Meals on Wheels Erie landed in 2nd place in the Hometown Hero Support pillar. Thanks to our community's votes in February, the Veterans in Need program can move 2 more veterans from the waiting list to active delivery with this $5000 grant!
